Myanmar: Reports indicate that approximately 30 civilians were killed in a series of unexplained shootings and artillery attacks following a military operation in Hpakant, a key jade mining town in northern Myanmar’s Kachin State. The military sent about 600 troops from Kamaing, located around 40 miles from Hpakant, to reinforce their remaining positions after the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) took control of most nearby hilltop camps and villages, effectively blocking the junta forces. After facing multiple ambushes that delayed their arrival, the large contingent of junta troops launched assaults on the town and surrounding areas, setting jade mining sites on fire and shelling the eastern parts of the region.

  • Lord, we pray for the victims of the violence in Hpakant and their grieving families. Bring comfort and healing to those affected by these tragic events. May Your presence be felt among them during this time of sorrow and loss (The Holy Bible, Psalm 147:3).
  • Lord, we pray for peace and reconciliation in Myanmar. We ask that You soften the hearts of those in power and instill a desire for dialogue and understanding among all parties involved. May the people of Myanmar experience stability and security once again (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 32:17).
