In North Korea, the government treats Christianity as a serious threat and the “greatest sinner.” Owning a Holy Bible, praying, or gathering in secret can lead to torture, imprisonment in harsh labor camps, or even execution. Families are punished too, sometimes detained for generations, just for one person’s faith. The state has set up only a few “show churches” in Pyongyang to mislead observers, while underground Christian groups must operate in extreme secrecy. A 2020 law even doubled down, making religious acts punishable as political crimes. Despite brutal repression, firing squads, labor camps, and public beatings, many North Koreans continue to believe in smuggling Bibles and tuning in to foreign broadcasts. International groups rank North Korea as the worst persecutor of Christians, with tens of thousands imprisoned solely for their faith.
Abba Father, just as Your servant Daniel, who prayed for the deliverance of his people after 70 years of captivity, we plead for Your Mercy upon the nation of North Korea to deliver the country from the oppressive regime. Break every chain of oppression, Oh LORD! Bring hope and healing to the North Korean people (The Holy Bible, Daniel 9:9).
Sovereign GOD, restore the true freedom and justice to all the people in North Korea. Let Your Will be done in the nation, for nothing is impossible with You, LORD! (The Holy Bible, Mark 10:27).
Pray for the Holy Spirit to open the eyes and minds of the people of North Korea, including the Kim family, to be receptive to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Savior (The Holy Bible, Matthew 24:14).
