Landmines in Syria have caused great harm to children. Many kids, like nine-year-old Huda al-Dahr, have been badly injured or killed by explosions while playing or working near their homes. Landmines and unexploded bombs are scattered across many areas, especially where fighting took place. Children are often the most vulnerable because they cannot always see or understand the dangers. These explosives can cause serious injuries, such as losing limbs or death. Families suffer deeply when children are hurt. Hospitals and rehabilitation centers work hard to help injured children recover, but they have limited resources and many patients. Mine clearance teams are trying to make areas safe again, but it is a slow process due to a lack of money and equipment. Without safer lands, children and their families cannot return home or farm safely. The ongoing risk of landmines keeps threatening children’s lives and futures in Syria.
Pray for the LORD’s divine protection for all Syrians from landmines and other explosive remnants. Pray for the LORD to heal the hearts of the people in Syria from the scars of the war and its aftermath (The Holy Bible, Psalm 121:7-8).
Pray for more funding to remove the landmines and other explosive remnants in Syria. Pray for restoration and replenishment of the nation and its people’s lives (The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 30:17).
