The Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) has raised concerns over the rising number of vehicle-pedestrian collisions and hit-and-run cases, which have increased from 40 in 2021 to 60 in 2024, with 18 already reported in mid-2025. Most incidents stem from reckless driving, speeding, distracted driving (especially mobile phone use), and failure to yield at zebra crossings. RBP is enhancing CCTV surveillance, coordinating with hospitals for rapid response, and urging both drivers and pedestrians to follow safety rules. Deputy Chief of Police Colonel Passang Dorji emphasized the critical need for alert driving and pedestrian caution, especially near schools and urban zones.
Abba Father , we pray for increased awareness among drivers and pedestrians. Instill in them a spirit of responsibility and caution so that lives may be protected. In Jesus’ name. Amen (The Bible, Proverbs 22:3).
Lord, protect all those who walk and drive our roads daily. Bring healing to the injured and comfort to families affected by these tragedies (The Bible, Psalm 121:7).
