A tourist boat named Wonder Sea Boat capsized in Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay during a sudden thunderstorm, killing at least 37 people and leaving five missing. The boat was carrying 48 passengers, mostly Vietnamese families from Hanoi, and five crew members. More than 20 children were on board. Ten people, including a 14-year-old boy trapped for four hours, were rescued. A 10-year-old survivor described swimming through the wreck to escape. The boat flipped amid extreme weather caused by a convergence zone and intense heat, which led to fierce storms. Authorities have launched an investigation and promised strict action for any violations. The rescued boat has been brought to shore. Meanwhile, Storm Wipha is strengthening and expected to hit Vietnam soon, with strong winds already disrupting air travel in Hanoi. Ha Long Bay is a popular tourist spot, but weather-related accidents have occurred there before.
