Bangladesh has seen a disturbing rise in rape cases, with 481 reported in the first half of this year alone—just 35 short of the total cases for all of last year, according to the Bangladesh Mahila Parishad. Alarmingly, 72% of the victims were children, and 106 cases involved gang rape. The brutality of recent incidents in areas like Muradnagar, Bhola, and Magura highlights the worsening crisis. Compounding the trauma, victims often face public shaming and vilification on social media, while political actors exploit these tragedies for gain, reflecting a deep moral and ethical breakdown in society.

Abba Father, we cry out for justice and healing for every victim of sexual violence. Protect the vulnerable, especially our children, and raise up leaders who will defend the oppressed. Let righteousness flow like a river across Bangladesh (The Bible, Psalm 72:14).

Lord, bring conviction to the hearts of those who commit or enable such evil. Strengthen the voices of truth, compassion, and accountability in the media and society. Restore dignity and peace to those who have been wronged (The Bible, Psalm 34:18).
