Pray For Christian Leaders

Pray for pastors, evangelists, teachers, missionaries, and local Christian leaders serving throughout Thailand. Pray especially for leaders who are discipling small congregations in places where Christian communities are isolated or resources are limited. Ask God to give them endurance, wisdom, and the ability to equip others rather than carrying ministry alone.

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,

Colossians 3:23

Pray For The Next Generation

Thailand’s young people are growing up at the intersection of ancient traditions and a rapidly changing global culture. Bangkok and other urban centers expose young adults to ideas, technologies, and lifestyles from around the world, while family and cultural expectations remain powerful.

Pray for teenagers wrestling with questions about identity, relationships, and purpose. Pray for university students encountering Christianity for the first time. Pray for Christian young people who may feel like a small minority among their peers.

Pray that churches will create environments where young people can ask difficult questions without fear. Pray for mentors who will listen before speaking, teach Scripture faithfully, and demonstrate what it means to follow Jesus in everyday life.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Colossians 3:16

Pray For The Church

Pray for unity among Thailand’s Christian communities. Pray for churches to cooperate across denominational and cultural boundaries while maintaining a deep commitment to Scripture.

Pray for Thai Christian leaders to develop ministries that speak naturally into Thai culture. Ask God to give churches a heart for communities beyond their immediate reach, particularly people groups with limited access to Christian relationships.

fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Philippians 2:2

Pray For The People Beyond The Tourist Trail

Thailand is known internationally for its temples, beaches, islands, cuisine, and hospitality. Pray for the communities rarely seen by visitors.

Pray for people in remote mountain settlements, rural villages, fishing communities, and rapidly changing neighborhoods. Ask God to move His people beyond their familiar ministry circles so that those with little contact with Christians are not forgotten.

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
When it is in the power of your hand to do so.

Proverbs 3:27

Capital: Bangkok
Region: Southeast Asia
Population: Approximately 70.3 million
Major peoples: Central Thai, Thai Isan/Lao, Thai-Chinese, Malay, Karen, Hmong, Akha, Lahu, Lisu, Mien, and many other communities
Major religions: Theravada Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, and traditional beliefs
Major language: Thai, alongside numerous regional and Indigenous languages

Thailand stretches from the mountains of the north to the beaches and islands of the south. The Chao Phraya basin has shaped the country’s agricultural and urban heartland, while the northeastern Isan plateau, northern highlands, and southern peninsula each possess distinctive histories and cultures. Bangkok has become a vast modern metropolis, while communities in mountains, forests, and coastal areas maintain very different rhythms of life.

Thailand’s 2025 Population and Housing Census recorded approximately 70.3 million people, with just over half living in municipal areas.

Thai society contains considerable ethnic and linguistic diversity. Thai Isan/Lao communities form a large population in the northeast, while Thai-Chinese communities have become deeply integrated into the country’s social and economic life. In the north and west are communities including Karen, Hmong, Akha, Lahu, Lisu, and Mien. Along the Andaman coast are the Moken, Moklen, and Urak Lawoi, whose traditional lives have been closely connected to the sea.

Thailand is often imagined through its temples, beaches, markets, and cities. Beneath that familiar picture is a nation of many communities.

The people of Isan have their own linguistic and cultural heritage. Thai-Chinese families have shaped generations of urban and commercial life. Northern mountain communities maintain languages and traditions distinct from the Thai mainstream. In the far south, Patani Malay communities possess a strong cultural and linguistic identity connected to the Malay world.

Thailand’s Indigenous and minority communities also include people whose lives remain closely connected to forests, mountains, and the sea. Some highland peoples face difficulties related to land rights, citizenship, economic marginalization, and access to services. Coastal communities can face pressures from development, conservation policies, and changing livelihoods.

Thailand is deeply shaped by Theravada Buddhism. Religious identity is often intertwined with family, community, culture, and national history. Buddhist temples remain important centers of community life, while spiritual practices can also include elements of older animist and folk traditions.

Islam is particularly significant in the southern provinces bordering Malaysia. Patani Malay Muslims form an important community in Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat, with Muslim communities also present elsewhere in Thailand.

Christianity represents a much smaller part of the national religious landscape. Christians are found among Thai-Chinese communities, Indigenous peoples, and other populations, while churches and Christian ministries serve throughout the country.

Pray for Christians to see these communities as people rather than statistics. Pray for Christian Believers who will listen carefully, learn local languages, and honor people’s dignity as they share the hope of Christ.

Thailand has churches, Christian schools, missionaries, and Christian Believers who have served faithfully for generations. Yet the presence of Christianity does not mean that every Thai person has heard and understood the gospel.

There are Buddhist families who have never had a close Christian friend. There are young people who know Christianity primarily through cultural impressions. There are mountain communities where language and geography make Christian resources difficult to access. There are Patani Malay families living in a region marked by longstanding tensions. There are coastal communities whose traditional way of life is changing rapidly.

There are also millions of people in Thailand’s cities who live surrounded by modern opportunities yet carry private questions about meaning, purpose, suffering, and the future.

They’ve Never Heard asks us to look beyond the temples, tourist destinations, and statistics and pray for the person behind each one.

Pray For Isan

Pray for the people of Thailand’s northeast, where Thai Isan identity, language, and culture remain strong. Pray for churches serving rural communities and for Christian workers who understand the local culture rather than assuming that approaches developed elsewhere will automatically work. Ask God to raise indigenous leaders who can disciple their own communities.

The Lord will perfect that which concerns me;
Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever;
Do not forsake the works of Your hands.

Psalm 138:8

Pray For The Mountain People

Pray for Karen, Hmong, Akha, Lahu, Lisu, Mien, and other highland communities. Many have maintained distinctive languages and traditions through generations. Pray for access to education, healthcare, secure livelihoods, and justice, while also asking God to open doors for the gospel through relationships that respect their cultural identity.

He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.

Isaiah 40:29

Pray For The Deep South

Pray for the Patani Malay communities of Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, and surrounding areas. Pray for families who have lived with prolonged insecurity and tension. Ask God to raise peacemakers, protect civilians, and create relationships across religious and cultural boundaries. Pray for a Christian witness that is characterized by humility, service, and genuine friendship.

Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

James 3:18

Pray For The Sea People

Pray for the Moken, Moklen, and Urak Lawoi communities along Thailand’s southern coasts. Their traditional relationship with the sea is an important part of their identity, while development and changing regulations can affect their livelihoods and settlement patterns. Pray for dignity, stability, and access to essential services, and for Christian relationships that begin with listening and respect.

The sea is His, for He made it;
And His hands formed the dry land.

Psalm 95:5

Pray For Thai-Chinese Families

Pray for Thai-Chinese families whose histories stretch across generations. Pray for young people navigating family expectations, education, careers, and questions about faith. Ask God to open conversations about Christ within homes and friendships where spiritual questions may have remained unspoken.

for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’

Acts 17:28

Heavenly Father,

We bring Thailand before You.

You know the people of Bangkok and the families living in villages far from the capital. You know the communities of Isan, the peoples of the northern mountains, and the Malay communities of the Deep South. You know the families whose lives are connected to the forests and the sea.

We pray for those who have never truly heard the good news of Jesus.

Open hearts. Open conversations. Open doors. Give Your Church wisdom to understand Thai culture and humility to listen before speaking. Raise up Thai disciples who can communicate the gospel naturally within their own communities. Give Christian leaders strength to serve faithfully even when results seem small.

We pray for children and young people. Protect them from despair and give them mentors who will guide them toward the truth. Give Christian families the courage to disciple the next generation.

We pray for the mountain peoples and the sea communities. Give them dignity, security, and opportunity. Protect their languages and cultural heritage. Raise up Christian Believers from within these communities who will carry the gospel in ways that are understood and trusted.

We pray for the Deep South. Bring peace to communities that have known fear and division. Protect families and raise up peacemakers who can build bridges across religious and ethnic boundaries.

Father, let Your Word travel through every language, every village, every city, and every community where Jesus is not yet clearly known.

May Thailand encounter the living Christ.

In the Name of Jesus,
Amen.
