A very present help in trouble.

Proverbs 2:6

Capital: Cairo
People Groups: 46
Unreached People Groups: 33
Population in Unreached Groups: 107.8 million
Unreached Frontier Groups: 24

Egypt has 46 people groups, of which 33 are unreached, representing about 90% of the country’s population. Egypt is one of the world’s most historically significant civilizations and is home to approximately 120 million people today.

Most Egyptians speak Egyptian Arabic, while Standard Arabic is the official language. Egypt is also home to a number of distinct ethnic and linguistic communities, including Nubian, Bedouin, Amazigh, Beja, and other smaller peoples.

The country has a longstanding Christian presence, particularly among Coptic Christians, alongside Muslim communities. Christian adherents make up approximately 9.5% of the population, and evangelical Christians about 1.5%. The existence of an established Christian community does not mean that every Egyptian has meaningful access to the Gospel.

There are 33 unreached people groups in Egypt.

Among the groups identified are communities such as:

  • Egyptian Arabic-speaking peoples
  • Bedouin communities
  • Nubian peoples
  • Abaza
  • Adyghe
  • Beja

Egypt is also experiencing significant economic and social pressures. A rapidly growing population places enormous demands on housing, education, employment, healthcare, and infrastructure.

Millions of young Egyptians are entering adulthood in a rapidly changing society. That generation represents an enormous opportunity for prayer. Young people are searching for identity, purpose, community, and hope. Many encounter an increasingly digital world where ideas and information cross traditional boundaries.

Pray that young Egyptians who are searching for truth will encounter the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Pray also for those serving vulnerable communities, including refugees and migrants living within Egypt.

Egypt has a long Christian history, but contemporary religious life includes significant restrictions and pressures. Religious freedom conditions remain poor and that Coptic Christians and other religious minorities face various forms of discrimination. It also reports the continued use of laws concerning blasphemy and cybercrime in ways that can restrict religious expression.

The ongoing restrictions affecting religious minorities, including Coptic Christians. For Christians who come from Muslim backgrounds, following Jesus can carry particularly significant personal and social consequences.

Some Christian Believers, therefore, face difficult questions:

Can I openly identify as a Christian?

Can I tell my family?

Can I meet with other Christian Believers?

Can I share what I have discovered about Jesus?

So we pray for courage, wisdom, protection, and opportunities for Christian Believers to faithfully represent Christ.

Pray that people will seek God

Pray for Egyptians who are searching for truth, meaning, and hope. Ask God to draw those who are sincerely seeking Him toward the Truth of Christ.

Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.

Isaiah 55:6

Pray for access to Scripture

Pray that Egyptians will have opportunities to encounter the Bible in languages and forms they can understand, including through digital resources.

Your Word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.

Psalm 119:105

Pray for vulnerable families and displaced people

Pray for refugees, migrants, and families facing poverty or insecurity. Ask God to provide practical help and compassionate people who will serve them.

The Lord watches over the strangers;
He relieves the fatherless and widow;
But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.

Psalm 146:9

Pray for a spiritual awakening among Egyptians

Pray that God will awaken hearts throughout Egypt and that people from communities currently classified as unreached will encounter Christ.

“For then I will restore to the peoples a pure language,
That they all may call on the Name of the Lord,
To serve Him with one accord.

Zephaniah 3:9

Heavenly Father,

We bring Egypt before You.

You know every person, every family, every community, and every language. You know those who already follow Jesus and those who have never understood who He is. Strengthen Your Church in Egypt. Protect Christian Believers facing pressure for their faith.

Give wisdom to pastors, teachers, and Christian workers. Open doors for Scripture. Give courage to those who share the Gospel. Reach the communities that remain unreached. Reach the young.

Reach the forgotten. Reach those who have never had a meaningful opportunity to hear the good news. Bring hope to vulnerable families and displaced people. Awaken hearts throughout Egypt to seek You.

May the day come when people throughout Egypt can say they have clearly heard the good news of Jesus Christ.

In the Name of Jesus,
Amen.
