A recent survey by Anchal Foundation reports a sharp rise in student suicides in 2025, with 403 deaths compared to 310 in 2024. Alarmingly, nearly half (190) were school students. The report highlights that 92 college students, 77 university students, and 44 madrasa students also died by suicide. Female students were particularly affected, with 249 girls among the victims. At the school level, significantly more girls than boys died by suicide, pointing to pressures such as family expectations, social scrutiny, emotional distress, and possible abuse. University data showed slightly higher male cases, linked to career anxiety and uncertainty about the future. Depression, family conflict, mental instability, exam stress, digital harassment, and urban isolation especially in Dhaka division are key contributing factors. The findings underline an urgent need to prioritize student mental health and collective responsibility in protecting young lives.

Abba Father, we declare that every student struggling with despair will encounter Your hope and healing. Let Your light break through every darkness and restore joy in their hearts. Lord, we declare that students facing academic pressure and uncertainty will receive strength and peace beyond understanding. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 34:18).

Lord, we declare wisdom and compassion for parents, teachers, and leaders to recognize distress and respond with love and support. Amen (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 22: 6).
