Türkiye’s unemployment rate increased slightly to 8.6 percent in November, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute. This was a small rise from the previous month. The number of unemployed people grew by 54,000, reaching about 3.1 million. Unemployment remained higher for women at 11.8 percent, while it was 7 percent for men. Youth unemployment stayed unchanged at 15.4 percent, with young women facing much higher joblessness than young men. Despite this, employment rose by 75,000 people, lifting total employment to nearly 32.74 million. The labor force also expanded, and participation increased to 53.8 percent. Broader labor underutilization, which includes underemployed and discouraged workers, fell to 29.1 percent, showing some improvement. Officials said the government is focusing on job programs, training, and support for women, youth, and skilled workers. Analysts noted that companies are cautious about hiring as they try to cut costs and improve efficiency, while more women and retirees are entering the labor market due to rising living costs.
Pray for the government of Türkiye to find an effective solution to end the growing unemployment crisis. Pray for the authorities to take action to create more jobs in the country (The Holy Bible, Job 12:13).
Pray for the LORD’s provision for all families suffering unemployment and economic hardship in Türkiye. Pray for the people, especially the youth, to have access to more economic opportunities (The Holy Bible, Psalm 118:25).
