Türkiye’s first major survey on violence against women in ten years shows that many women still face serious abuse. The 2024 study interviewed over 18,000 women and found that nearly 3 in 10 experienced psychological violence, while others faced economic, physical, or even digital abuse. Divorced and less-educated women were the most affected, and younger women aged 15 to 24 were found to be especially vulnerable to digital and emotional violence. Most digital violence came from strangers, while current or former partners were also responsible. Women in the private sector reported more psychological and economic violence than those in public jobs. The worst rates of physical abuse were in Northeastern Anatolia. The main reasons for abuse by partners included anger issues, financial stress, and jealousy. Türkiye’s Family Minister said these findings will shape a new national plan from 2026 to 2030. The government promises stronger action, new support programs, and open access to the data to help stop violence against women.
Pray for the Türkish lawmakers to come up with more stringent laws to curb the violence against women in the nation. Pray for the effective implementation of programs and laws to help the women in need (The Holy Bible, Deuteronomy 16:19).
Pray for divine protection upon all the women and girl children in Türkiye from all evil. Pray for the LORD to heal them physically and psychologically, and bless them with a bright future (The Holy Bible, Ruth 2:12).
