In rural Tajikistan, the lives of many young women are marked by deep struggles that often go unseen. During the first half of this year, 102 women and girls took their lives in Tajikistan, Bunafsha Fayziddinzoda, the head of the country’s Committee on Women and Family Affairs, told. Experts say poverty, domestic abuse, and child marriage are some of the main reasons behind these tragedies. Many women live with their husbands’ families while their husbands work abroad, leading to added pressure and isolation. Mental health care is rare, especially in rural areas, and many women do not know their rights or have anyone to turn to. While some awareness efforts have helped, much more is needed, including stronger laws, better services, and support for those working to help women. Despite the challenges, many activists are still fighting for change.
Pray for the lawmakers in Tajikistan to implement stringent laws to end violence against women in the nation. Pray for the availability of an increased and improved support system for all women in need in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 17:8).
Pray for divine protection upon all women and girls in Tajikistan from all evil. Pray for the LORD to heal them both physically and psychologically and to bless them with hope and a bright future (The Holy Bible, Ruth 2:12).
