In Tajikistan in 2025, freedom of expression was very limited. The government continued to punish journalists and critics who spoke out against leaders or reported independently. Some journalists were jailed for many years after secret trials, and others were accused of crimes with no clear public evidence. A planned conference for women journalists was cancelled by authorities at the last minute, and participants were forced to leave when they tried to continue. Independent media outlets were often not allowed to monitor elections, and many reporters remain in prison because of their work. These actions show that the government tightly controls news and public debate, and people who try to speak freely risk harsh punishment. International groups and media observers have raised concerns that independent reporting and free speech are under serious threat in Tajikistan, making it dangerous for journalists and activists who express critical views.

Pray for press freedom in Tajikistan. Pray for the immediate release of all imprisoned journalists and activists in the nation. Pray for them to have access to their basic needs and rights in prison (The Holy Bible, Judges 2:18).

Pray for freedom of speech and expression in Tajikistan.  Pray for the end of arbitrary detentions and human rights violations in the nation. Pray for justice to prevail for the oppressed. Pray for divine protection for all the vulnerable people suffering from rights abuses, detention, and displacement (The Holy Bible, Psalm 31:2).
