Morocco is facing strong and unstable weather this week, with cold air bringing heavy rain, snow, and strong winds across many regions. The national weather service says the conditions will feel very wintery, especially in the mountains and high plateaus. Snow is expected in the Middle and High Atlas, Rif, and eastern high areas, with snow levels dropping as low as 1,100 meters. Many northern and coastal regions will see heavy rain and thunderstorms. Some provinces, such as Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, and Larache, may receive very high rainfall, while strong winds could reach up to 85 kilometers per hour in several areas. Authorities warn people to be careful because of slippery roads, snow buildup, and rough seas. Despite the risks, the rain has helped Morocco’s water supply. Dams across the country now hold nearly 9.2 billion cubic meters of water, raising the fill rate to over 55%. Several dams are now full.
Pray for the Moroccan government to take immediate action to improve the country’s infrastructure and water management. Pray for the authorities to implement more effective measures to safeguard the safety of citizens during severe weather conditions (The Holy Bible, Psalm 33:20).
Pray for divine protection and provision for all the people in Morocco during this severe weather. Pray for them to have immediate access to food, shelter, and other basic needs (The Holy Bible, Lamentations 3:56).
