Central Vietnam is facing severe flooding after record-breaking rains hit key cities, especially Hue and Hoi An. Over 1,000 millimetres of rain fell in 24 hours, the highest ever recorded in the country. Rivers in Hue, including the Huong and Bo, rose to more than five metres, flooding homes, streets, and historic sites. In Hoi An, water reached roof levels, forcing thousands of people to evacuate. Landslides in Quang Ngai province left 1,700 people isolated, while many areas in Danang, Hue, and Quang Tri suffered power outages. Flooding also disrupted rail services between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. At least nine people have died, and five are missing, with hundreds of thousands of homes damaged. Officials warn that heavy rain and flooding may continue for days. Experts say storms are becoming stronger due to climate change. This disaster follows Typhoon Bualoi in September, which killed at least 13 people, highlighting the growing danger of extreme weather in Vietnam.

Pray for divine provision for the population affected by the storm and flash floods in Vietnam. Pray for them to have immediate access to food, shelter, and other basic needs (The Holy Bible, Lamentations 3:56).

Pray for the Vietnamese government to take immediate action to improve the country’s infrastructure and water management to tackle climate change. Pray for the authorities to implement more effective measures to safeguard the safety of the citizens during deadly calamities (The Holy Bible, Psalm 33:20).
