Armed men attacked the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, early on the morning of 17th November 2025, killing a teacher and kidnapping at least 25 students. Police said the attackers, known locally as bandits, exchanged gunfire with officers before climbing the school’s fence and taking the girls from their hostel. One staff member died trying to protect the students, and another was injured. Witnesses said the gunmen arrived in large numbers, shooting into the air to cause fear, then marched the girls into nearby bushland. Security forces, including police, soldiers, and local vigilantes, are now carrying out a major search and rescue operation in nearby forests. For many years, schools in northern Nigeria have been frequent targets for kidnappers who seek ransom money or deals with the government. This is the first large school abduction since March 2024 and shows the ongoing security crisis that continues to leave families terrified and waiting for news of their children.
Pray for the LORD’S intervention against the kidnappings of innocent people, especially children in Nigeria. Pray for divine peace and protection for all the innocent civilians, especially school-going children, in the nation. Pray for an improved and strong security system in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 17:13).
In the Mighty and Miraculous Name of Jesus Christ, our LORD, we command the Angels of GOD to deliver all the kidnapped victims in Nigeria, including the 25 students and Leah Sharibu, too (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 45:11).
