Sibu police arrested 221 individuals and seized RM120,000 worth of drugs during a month-long anti-drug operation, “Op Tapis Narkotik,” held between October 6 and November 6. According to Sibu police chief ACP Zulkpili Suhaili, the operation led to 256 cases under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the Poisons Act 1952. Those arrested included 206 men and 15 women, among them three foreign nationals. Authorities confiscated 3,163.55 grams of methamphetamine (syabu) valued at RM120,214.90. A total of 246 cases were brought to court, including one for drug trafficking and several for possession and abuse. Zulkpili reaffirmed the police’s commitment to fighting drug distribution and addiction, emphasizing continuous efforts to strengthen enforcement and intelligence-sharing.

Abba Father, we pray for all who are trapped in addiction. Break every chain of bondage and bring freedom, healing, and new beginnings to those caught in the web of drugs. Amen (The Holy Bible, John 8:36).

Lordr, protect and strengthen the police officers serving in Sibu. Give them wisdom, courage, and integrity as they fight against the darkness of drug abuse. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 106:3).
