Christians in Türkiye are facing increasing challenges and discrimination. Many foreign Christians who have lived in the country for years are being banned or deported, often labeled as “national security threats” without any evidence. One example is Kenneth Wiest, an American Protestant who lived in Türkiye since 1985 but was denied reentry and marked as a security risk. Human rights groups argue that these actions violate religious freedom and the right to live without discrimination. Since 2020, over 200 foreign Christian workers and their families have been affected. These bans also hurt churches, which struggle without enough workers. Legal organizations are now taking cases like Wiest’s to the European Court of Human Rights, highlighting the threat to religious freedom in the country. Advocates warn that targeting people for their faith undermines law, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence, putting Christians in Türkiye under constant pressure and uncertainty.
Pray for the international authorities to urge the Türkish government to be more tolerant of religions. Pray for more freedom of religion in Türkiye (The Holy Bible, Deuteronomy 16:19).
Pray against religious discrimination in Türkiye. Pray for the peaceful coexistence of believers and non-believers in the nation. Pray for divine protection upon all the Christians in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 71:3).
