Pray for courage among Libyan Christian Believers
Many Christians in Libya cannot speak openly about their faith. Pray for courage without recklessness and wisdom without fear.
Lord, make Your people bold in faith and wise in every decision.
the righteous are bold as a lion.
Proverbs 28:1
Pray for protection
Christians, particularly those from Muslim backgrounds, can face severe consequences. Christian migrants have been kidnapped and detained by armed groups. Pray for protection from violence, detention, intimidation, and every other form of persecution.
Father, surround Your people in Libya with Your protection, and deliver them from harm.
The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.
Psalm 34:7
Pray for isolated Christian Believers
Some Christian Believers must decide whom to trust, where to meet, whether to speak about their faith, how to obtain Christian materials, and how to stay connected to others. Pray that God would connect them with trustworthy brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ.
Lord, let no Christian Believer in Libya walk alone.
Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor.
Ecclesiastes 4:9
Pray for peace and stability
Pray for an end to violence, and for conditions in which ordinary Libyans can live safely, rebuild their communities, and worship according to conscience.
Father, bring peace to communities affected by violence and instability.
They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore.
Isaiah 2:4

Unreached frontier people groups: 27
Libya is a North African nation whose people live mostly along the Mediterranean coast, with vast desert stretching away to the south. Arabic is the dominant language, and Islam shapes almost every part of life.
Yet Libya is not uniform. It is home to distinct Amazigh communities and other ethnic and linguistic peoples, and to Christians, both Libyan Christian Believers and Christians from other nations who live and work there.
Arabic-speaking peoples
The great majority, including Libyan Arabs and other Arabic-speaking North African communities, among whom evangelical presence is very limited.
Amazigh peoples
Including the Awjilah, Siwa, and Zuwarah communities. The Awjilah and Siwa are particularly small.
Refugees and migrants
Libya is a major place of refuge and transit. UNHCR planning anticipates that it could host more than 700,000 refugees and asylum seekers in the coming years, alongside around 600,000 migrants. Arbitrary detention, trafficking, and exploitation are serious concerns. Women and girls at risk, unaccompanied children, survivors of trafficking and torture, people with disabilities, and people with serious medical needs are especially vulnerable.
Of Libya’s 45 people groups, 34 are unreached and 27 are frontier. Together they make up about 6.57 million people, roughly 88% of the population.
The environment for Christian witness is extremely difficult. Libya continues to experience political fragmentation and insecurity, and religious freedom has deteriorated amid the prolonged crisis. Authorities and armed groups have restricted religious expression and targeted religious minorities, people accused of leaving Islam, and people suspected of sharing the Christian faith, with reports of arrests and detention.
Behind the numbers are people raising children, people searching for meaning, people who may know the name of Jesus without knowing His message, and people who have never encountered the Gospel at all.
Libya is not only a place where people need to hear about Jesus Christ. It is also a place where vulnerable people need to encounter His compassion through His people.
Pray for those who have never heard
Pray for opportunities for people throughout Libya to encounter the Gospel clearly and understand who Jesus Christ is.
Lord, open doors no human power can close, so that every unreached community in Libya may hear.
I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
1 Corinthians 9:22
Pray for the Amazigh communities
Pray for the Awjilah, Siwa, Zuwarah, and other distinct communities, particularly where evangelical presence is extremely limited.
Father, open doors for the Gospel among Libya’s Amazigh peoples, and let them sing a new song to You.
Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things;
Psalm 98:1
Pray for Scripture to reach Libya
Pray for safe and appropriate access to God’s Word through printed and digital resources, and for those who encounter Scripture to understand its message.
Lord, let Your Word bring light and understanding across Libya.
The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.
Psalm 119:130
Pray for refugees and migrants
Pray for protection for those vulnerable to trafficking, exploitation, and detention, and for compassionate people to serve them.
God of justice, defend the afflicted and provide for those who have nothing.
I know that the Lord will maintain The cause of the afflicted, And justice for the poor.
Psalm 140:12
Pray for children and vulnerable families
Pray for children separated from their families, and for families living with displacement and insecurity.
Father, be a father to the fatherless and a defender of the vulnerable in Libya.
A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation.
Psalm 68:5
Pray for a spiritual awakening
Pray that God would draw people throughout Libya to Himself and establish a growing, indigenous witness to Jesus Christ.
Lord, turn the hearts of Libya toward You.
Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.
Isaiah 45:22
Father,
We bring Libya before You. You know every person in this land, every community, every language, and every family. You know those who follow Jesus Christ quietly and those who have never heard His good news.
Protect Your people. Give courage to Christian Believers who face pressure and wisdom to those seeking opportunities to share the Gospel. Strengthen Christian fellowship, and open access to Your Word. Reach the Amazigh communities and Arabic-speaking families, and reach every unreached people. Protect refugees, migrants, and vulnerable children, and bring peace to communities affected by violence and instability.
Let those who have never truly heard the Gospel encounter Jesus Christ in ways they can understand. May Libya become a place where hearts are opened, lives are transformed, and Jesus Christ is made known to all.
In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
