More than 125,000 people have crossed from Lebanon into Syria as of March 17, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM). About half of them are children, showing how serious the situation is for families. Most of those arriving are Syrians returning home, while around 7,000 are Lebanese, showing the wider impact of the conflict. Many people are reaching cities like Damascus, Homs, and Ar-Raqqa, where services are already weak after years of crisis. This is putting extra pressure on food, water, and healthcare systems. Many families arrive with little or no money, making cash support, shelter, and medical care urgent needs. Aid groups warn that without quick help, the situation could become worse and lead to more displacement. They stress that all movements should be safe and voluntary, and that children and vulnerable people must be protected. The international community is being urged to act quickly and provide more support.
Prayer:
Pray for the Holy Spirit of GOD to stir the hearts of international authorities and aid organizations to respond to Syria’s humanitarian crisis swiftly and generously. Pray for all the people, including displaced people, to have access to all their basic needs and rights (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 19:17).
Almighty GOD, we cry out for Your divine intervention in the region to end the violence and to bring peace and justice. Father, shield the innocent civilians, especially children, living in the war zone from harm and evil-doers (The Holy Bible, Psalm 9:12).
