The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reports that more than 64,000 internally displaced Iraqis have returned to their areas of origin over the past three months, signaling gradual progress in Iraq’s post-conflict recovery. While significant numbers of displaced people remain in governorates such as Nineveh, Duhok, Erbil, Kirkuk, and Baghdad, return movements have increased notably in areas like Mosul, Ramadi, Fallujah, Tikrit, and Sinjar. Most displaced Iraqis now live within host communities rather than camps, reflecting both resilience and ongoing challenges related to housing, livelihoods, and basic services. The situation highlights cautious optimism alongside the need for sustained humanitarian and reconstruction support.
Heavenly Father, we pray for all families returning to their homes. Grant them safety, peace, and healing from the pain of displacement and loss. Restore their communities with hope and dignity. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 121:8).
Lord, remember those who remain displaced in camps and fragile housing. Provide shelter, provision, and renewed hope for a better future. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 9:9).
