In Morocco, more than 2,400 people have been charged after large youth-led protests that turned violent. The protests were initiated by a group called Gen Z 212, which utilized social media to organize demonstrations against inadequate public services and government spending on sports projects rather than addressing social needs. Although organizers asked for peaceful protests, some clashes led to three deaths, injuries, and property damage. Many people were arrested, and 1,473 are still in jail awaiting trial. Charges include rebellion, insulting officials, and encouraging violence. Human rights groups say the arrests are unfair and call for the release of detainees. Some protesters face up to five years in prison for printing activist slogans on soccer jerseys. Over 400 people have already been sentenced to prison, while 34 were cleared of charges. Critics argue that the government’s harsh response restricts free speech and penalizes young people who demand a better future.

Pray for the immediate and unconditional release of the imprisoned protestors in Morocco. Pray for fair and transparent trials and prosecutions in all charges against the protestors. Pray for justice to prevail in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 27:12).

Pray for more freedom of speech and expression in Morocco. Pray for the government to adhere to the international human rights laws and allow its citizens to exercise all their rights and freedoms without any oppression (The Holy Bible, Psalm 120:2).
