A study titled “Digital Concerns in Jordan: Public Perceptions on Social Media and AI Tools,” presented on Global Safer Internet Day, shows strong public concern over children’s use of social media and AI. Conducted between December 20, 2025, and January 10, 2026, the study highlights broad support for tighter digital regulations. About 90% of respondents support restricting social media access for children aged 15 and below, while 87% favor regulating AI use. Additionally, 88% believe children under 12 cannot safely use social media, with most identifying age 17 as the appropriate starting age for independent use. Key concerns include inappropriate content, cyberbullying, exploitation, addiction, and social isolation. The study found generational differences in risk perception, with adults focusing on safety threats and youth more concerned about psychological impacts. AI is increasingly used for health information and emotional support, particularly among young people. Parents were seen as primarily responsible for online protection, alongside an important role for schools.
Abba Father, protect children and youth from harmful influences in digital spaces. Guard their hearts and minds from danger and deception. Lord, grant parents and teachers wisdom and discernment to guide children safely through the digital world. Amen (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 22:6).
Lord, help societies develop fair and wise policies that protect children while promoting learning and growth. Amen (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 22:3).
