Lebanon’s government announced that it will require at least four months to finish the second phase of its strategy to disarm the armed wing of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. The first phase, between the Litani River and the Israeli border, has been completed, while the second phase, between the Litani and Awali rivers, south of Beirut, has yet to be finished. Israel has condemned the army for acting too slowly and has maintained its attacks on Lebanon, killing civilians and Hezbollah members. Hezbollah, backed by Iran, refuses to give up its arms and claims that the government’s strategy to disarm it is working in Israel’s favor. This is a complex issue because Hezbollah is also a political party with representation in the Lebanese parliament and enjoys widespread support from Shiite Muslims, who account for one-third of Lebanon’s population.

Pray for the success of the efforts of the government to disarm Hezbollah and to improve the security and peace in Lebanon, especially in southern Lebanon. Pray for divine peace to prevail in the nation as well as in the region (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 11:14).

Pray for political stability in Lebanon. Pray against the influence of Hezbollah and other terrorist groups in Lebanon. Pray for divine wisdom for the people of Lebanon in choosing and supporting their leaders politically (The Holy Bible, Job 5:13).
