Lebanon is in a dangerous situation because Israel wants Hezbollah to disarm, but Hezbollah refuses while it feels threatened. The Lebanese government is too weak to force Hezbollah to give up its weapons, and this creates a risk of both civil conflict and another war with Israel. After years of tension, Israel and Hezbollah fought a two-month war in 2024 that killed thousands and displaced more than a million people. Israel claims it destroyed many Hezbollah sites and pushed the group north, but Hezbollah still survives and remains strong among Lebanon’s Shia population. A US- and French-brokered ceasefire says the Lebanese army must disarm Hezbollah by the end of the year, but this is almost impossible. If Prime Minister Nawaf Salam orders the army to confront Hezbollah, Lebanon could fall into civil war. If he does nothing, Israel may attack again. The best hope is for the US to pressure Israel to stop escalating, giving Lebanon time to find a peaceful solution.
Pray for wise counsel for the Lebanese authorities to make a decision that should not trigger a war within the country or with Israel. Ask the Holy Spirit of GOD to help the leaders find a peaceful solution to end extremism in Lebanon (The Holy Bible, 2 Chronicles 14:11).
Pray for divine protection upon the people living in the Lebanon-Israel border region. Pray for peaceful relations between the two countries. Pray for the LORD to thwart all the plans of the evil-doers against the peace and protection of Lebanon and its innocent civilians (The Holy Bible, Job 5:12).
