Laos is facing a serious education crisis at home. Many students are dropping out of secondary and high schools, especially in poorer provinces like Attapeu, Sekong, and Savannakhet. The reasons include economic struggles, not enough teachers, and schools lacking proper buildings and dormitories. In some areas, students have to travel long distances to get to school, which makes staying in school hard. The main university in the country has seen its student numbers drop a lot over the past few years because many young people worry there will be no good jobs or enough money after they graduate. There are also thousands of teacher positions left empty, which makes the problem worse. To help, the government plans to send 2,000 trained soldiers to work as substitute teachers in rural areas, hoping this will support students and encourage them to keep studying despite the challenges.
Pray for all the students in Laos to get access to their needs to continue and complete their education. Pray for increased economic support for the students in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 40:17).
Pray for the success of the Laotian government’s efforts to end the education crisis in the nation. Pray for improved facilities and increased teachers to support the education system in the country (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 20:18).
