Jordan’s labour market is facing a sharp rise in job turnover, according to the Jordan Strategy Forum (JSF).
From 2015 to 2023, the number of people who left or changed jobs rose from 53,509 to 89,584 — with a 187.9% increase among women and a 46% rise among men.

The main reasons for leaving include poor workplace conditions, long hours, stress, and lack of support, which now outweigh financial concerns.
Experts warn that these issues are also linked to low productivity, as Jordan’s productivity growth fell to -0.4% between 2022 and 2024, much lower than regional peers like China and Morocco.

The Ministry of Labour is working to improve conditions through new laws, safety programmes, and incentives for better work environments.

Abba Father, uplift women who face challenges at work. Grant them strength, wisdom, and courage to thrive, and inspire leaders to create equal opportunities for all. Amen (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 31:17).

Lord, help employees find rest and balance. Protect them from burnout, and let every workplace value human well-being above profit. Amen (The Holy Bible, Matthew 11:28).
