Tensions are rising across the Gulf after Iran launched missiles and drones at several countries. In Saudi Arabia, two drones targeted the Saudi Aramco refinery in Ras Tanura. The drones were intercepted, but falling debris caused a small fire. Oil supplies were not affected. In Kuwait, debris injured two workers at the Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery. The United Arab Emirates said it intercepted many Iranian missiles and drones, though some hit civilian areas. In Bahrain, loud explosions were heard near the airport and near the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet base. Iran says it is targeting US military presence, not Gulf countries, but airports and other sites have been struck. The attacks follow growing conflict between Iran, the US, and Israel. Gulf states fear further damage if their air defenses weaken. Many worry that the fighting could spread further, hurt oil exports, and create more instability across the Middle East and the Arabian Peninsula.
