Human trafficking in Laos has become a serious problem, with the country now ranked in the lowest tier of the 2025 Trafficking in Persons Report. It says corruption, weak law enforcement, and official involvement have allowed traffickers to act freely. Many victims are exploited in Special Economic Zones, where online scam operations and forced labor are common. Despite clear evidence of these crimes, the Lao government did not investigate or prosecute any traffickers or corrupt officials. Fewer victims were identified compared to last year, showing poor progress in protecting vulnerable people. Transnational criminal groups continue to operate with little resistance, taking advantage of poverty and lack of oversight. The report highlights that some local authorities ignore or even support these crimes. As a result, thousands of people remain trapped in forced labor or scam operations, while the government’s inaction has worsened the human trafficking crisis in Laos.
Pray for the international authorities to urge the Lao government to take immediate action to curb human trafficking in the country. Pray for the immediate implementation of stringent laws to end this violence against innocent civilians (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 21:15).
Pray for a fair and impartial judiciary system in Laos. Pray for fair and strict prosecution against the corrupt officials, inactive authorities, and human traffickers in the country. Pray for justice to be served for the victims (The Holy Bible, Deuteronomy 27:19).
Pray for divine protection upon all the Lao civilians from the human trafficking rings. Pray for the LORD’s intervention in Laos and its neighboring countries to deliver the people lured into such scams (The Holy Bible, Psalm 70:5).
