The Houthi movement in Yemen, which controls Sanaa and much of the northwest, announced a general mobilization, warning it is ready for a possible Israeli airstrike. This follows Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu calling the Houthis a threat and saying Israel is working to neutralize them. Hundreds of armed tribesmen gathered in Sanaa and other areas, waving weapons and chanting anti-Israel slogans. In August, Israel carried out airstrikes on Houthi targets after missile and drone attacks on Israeli ports and airports, killing dozens of Houthis, including key leaders. The Houthis then restricted officials’ movements and detained many UN aid workers, accusing them of spying, though some foreign staff were later released. UN and Omani officials are working to restart peace talks and press for the release of remaining aid workers. The Houthis have also launched missiles and drones toward Israel and attacked Red Sea shipping since the Gaza war began, escalating regional tensions.

Pray against extremism in Yemen. Pray for the LORD’S intervention in the nation to uproot the Houthis’ bases and strongholds. Pray for the end of oppression against innocent civilians in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 10:15).

Pray for the immediate and unconditional release of all the imprisoned aid workers in Yemen. Pray for the end of the Houthis’ attacks on ships and the nation, Israel. Pray for peace and justice to prevail in the region (The Holy Bible, Psalm 7:1-2).
