The rising waters of Uluabat Lake in the northwestern part of Türkiye have engulfed holiday homes following weeks of torrential rain and melting snow. The water level in the lake rose rapidly and overflowed into the Karacabey Plain, engulfing agricultural land and extending to the Akcalar neighborhood in Bursa. Most of the small homes, bungalows, and hobby homes constructed around the lake are now surrounded by water. Some homes are partially submerged, and some roads are impassable by car. Residents have been using boats to access their homes. Ducks and other domestic animals are roaming the flooded streets, indicating the extent of flooding in the neighborhood. Residents are attempting to go about their daily activities pending the reduction of the water level. Residents have relocated animals and household items to higher ground. Residents claim that the flooding is the worst in the last ten years, with pets lost and homes damaged as the water level continues to rise.
Pray for an improved and more effective disaster management system in Türkiye to tackle the severe weather and protect civilians (The Holy Bible, Job 12:13).
Pray for divine protection for all the people in Türkiye, especially those who are living in the northwestern part of Türkiye, from natural disasters. Pray for the soon restoration of safe and regular daily life for all the flood victims in northwestern Türkiye (The Holy Bible, Psalm 57:1).
