The National Statistics Bureau’s CPI report for December 2025 shows a continued rise in inflation, driven mainly by increasing food and non-food prices. Food inflation reached 4.36 percent, with notable increases in staples, beverages, and betel nuts, while non-food inflation stood at 2.70 percent, led by higher costs for clothing, health, restaurants, and transport. Although month-on-month non-food inflation declined slightly, the overall cost of living continues to rise. The impact is being felt strongly by both rural and urban households. Rural families, especially in eastern Bhutan, face growing pressure as seasonal incomes fail to keep pace with rising prices of essentials and transport costs. Urban households, particularly those on fixed salaries, are struggling to manage monthly expenses as basic goods consume a larger share of income. The report highlights widening financial stress, reduced savings, delayed spending on non-essentials, and growing concern over affordability of food, health care, and daily necessities.

Pray that God will provide for families struggling to afford food and basic necessities. Pray that families facing financial stress will not lose hope and will find strength during difficult times (The Holy Bible, Philippians 4:19).

Pray for leaders and policymakers to act wisely to stabilize prices and protect essential goods (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 20:18).
