Officials say drug traffickers are still using the long border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan, showing how hard it is to stop smuggling in the region. Afghan spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said drugs are still moving into Tajikistan, even though counter-drug actions are ongoing. Tajik border guards reported a clash with armed smugglers, during which three suspects were killed. After the operation, Tajik forces said they seized weapons, and several bags filled with many packages of hashish and opium. Afghan officials said they are trying to improve border control, but the border is long, remote, and very hard to patrol. The frontier stretches more than 1,300 kilometers across mountains and rivers, which helps smugglers avoid detection. Authorities from both countries say they are working together to reduce illegal crossings. Afghanistan remains a major source of opium, and drugs often move through Central Asia toward Russia and Europe. Repeated clashes and seizures show that border security and drug trafficking remain serious challenges.
Pray for unity, cooperation, and wise counsel for the authorities of Tajikistan and Afghanistan to eradicate drug trafficking along the Tajik-Afghan border. Pray for an improved border security system in the region (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 24:6).
Pray against all drug trafficking rings working in Tajikistan and its neighboring countries. Pray for the LORD to thwart all the plans of the evildoers in the region (The Holy Bible, Job 5:12).
