Fighting in Sudan has intensified as the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) carried out a drone attack on civilian sites in Al-Ubayyid, the capital of North Kordofan state. Early on Friday, drones hit classrooms at Kordofan University for the second time this week, a medical supply center, and a private home in Riyadh Al-Salihin. No civilians were reported killed, but the buildings were damaged. The Sudanese army said it intercepted about 11 drones using ground-based defenses. Both the RSF and the army have increasingly used drones in their operations, raising fears for civilian safety. The RSF has been accused of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure, while the army continues to strike RSF supply lines in Kordofan and Darfur. The UN says more than 100,000 people have been displaced from Kordofan in just over three months. The conflict between the army and RSF is now approaching its third year, leaving many residents in fear and insecurity.
Pray for the quick end of the war and lasting peace in Sudan. Pray for the Holy Spirit of GOD to soften the hearts and minds of the leaders of the warring parties toward reconciliation and unity (The Holy Bible, Psalm 133:1).
Sovereign LORD, we plead for Your divine protection for all the innocent civilians from harm and violence, especially by drone attacks, in Sudan. We plead for Your divine provision of refuge and safety of civilians caught in the crossfire of conflict in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 9:9).
