Domestic violence in Saudi Arabia is a severe and common issue affecting women. Such violence has been sustained by decades of discrimination, societal norms, and the guardianship system, in which men have power over women’s lives. This affects women in various ways, such as physical, psychological, sexual, economic, and societal abuse. They can suffer physical assaults, verbal abuse, sexual coercion, lack of education, and employment. Although there are laws like “the Protection from Abuse Law” and “Personal Status Laws in 2022,” they do not effectively protect women because of a lack of implementation and the presence of the guardianship system. Saudi women require the approval of their guardians for various choices, and they may face punishment when they complain. Campaigns conducted by social media networks empower women when they dare to reveal their experiences, but social activists suffer harassment or jail time. Domestic violence in Saudi Arabia has remained high, and Saudi women continue to face challenges in experiencing freedom and equality in Saudi Arabia.

Pray for the legal system in Saudi Arabia to stand up for the rights and freedom of women in the country and bring an end to violence in any form against women. Pray for a change in society so that the dignity and worth of women will be recognized and upheld in the country (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 31:8).

Father GOD, we pray that the cry of Your daughters in Saudi Arabia reaches Your Throne. We pray for Your intervention in the lives of those who are facing violence and rejection. Let there be a transformation in their lives (The Holy Bible, Psalm 56:8-9).
