A harsh winter storm has struck Afghanistan, resulting in the death of at least 61 persons and injuring as many as 110 others. This is after the storm destroyed or damaged approximately 458 homes in at least 15 provinces. Many had lost their lives due to the roofs of their houses collapsing, avalanches, and frostbite. In Maidan Wardak Province, snow had accumulated to a level that it had become hard to drive along the highway and the village roads. It had proven to be a slow and risky journey as journalists had to walk through the thick snow to reach some of the villages that had been affected. In the Chak District, mud houses had collapsed due to the snow that had accumulated. For those villages where there were mountain ranges, there existed a great risk of avalanches, particularly at night. Some lost their lives while seeking medical attention due to the roads that were closed due to the storm. With the likelihood of further snowfall, several villages had been cut off. The storm has worsened the situation in a country already experiencing several calamities among millions of civilians who require such assistance during the wintertime.

Pray for the rescue, relief efforts and aid to reach the victims of deadly winter storms in Afghanistan at the right time. Pray for divine protection upon all the civilians, especially children, from natural calamities (The Holy Bible, Psalm 17:8).

Pray for the LORD’s comfort for the families of the deceased victims in Afghanistan. Pray for the LORD’s healing power upon all the injured victims of winter storms (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 57:18).

Pray for divine protection and provision for all the victims of winter storms in Afghanistan. Pray for them to have immediate access to food, shelter, and other basic needs (The Holy Bible, Lamentations 3:56).
