A tragic fuel tanker explosion happened on October 21, 2025, in Niger State, Nigeria, where at least 31 people lost their lives and 17 people were injured. The accident occurred along Bida, where a truck carrying gasoline overturned, spilling gasoline. People ran to gather the fuel, and there was an explosion that consumed many with fire. Powers in charge blame such accidents on bad roads as well as the lack of an efficient rail system, which has made the state a point of no return transit terminal. Governor Umaru Bago condemned the tragic activity of fuel scavenging and mourned the disaster. This tragedy comes in the wake of a similar one in January 2025, in which a minimum of 98 individuals perished under similar conditions. The activity of scavenging fuel from capsized tankers has become increasingly common as a result of increasing fuel prices after the withdrawal of subsidies by President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Pray for the LORD’s healing power upon all the injured victims of the fuel tanker explosion in Nigeria. Pray for the LORD’s comfort for all the families of the deceased victims. Pray for divine protection upon innocent civilians from such accidents (The Holy Bible, Psalm 57:1).
Pray for the Nigerian government to take action to improve fuel transportation safety measures and to control the increasing fuel costs in the nation. Pray for the construction of a proper, functional rail network to transport the flammable fuel safely. Pray for economic stability in the country (The Holy Bible, Job 12:13).
