At least 50 people have been killed, and many others kidnapped, after armed men attacked a busy market in Niger State, Nigeria. The attack happened on 03rd January,2026 afternoon at Kasuwan Daji market in Demo village. Police said the attackers, known locally as bandits, arrived on motorcycles and began shooting without warning. They also set market stalls on fire and stole food. Witnesses said there was chaos and fear, and that women and children were also targeted. Many people tried to escape, while others were trapped, and bodies were still being found hours later. This attack is part of a series of violent raids that started on 02nd January,2026 in nearby areas such as Agwarra and Borgu. Local residents said there was no visible security presence during the attacks. Police say they are working to rescue those abducted, but the military has not yet spoken. The violence follows a recent mass kidnapping of schoolchildren in the same state.
