A serious explosion happened at a Chinese-run restaurant in Kabul, Afghanistan, killing one Chinese person and six Afghans, and injuring several others, including a child. The restaurant is in the Shahr-e-Naw area, a busy part of the city with offices, shops, and embassies, which is usually considered very safe. The restaurant was run by a Chinese Muslim, his wife, and an Afghan partner, and served the local Chinese Muslim community. The explosion happened near the kitchen. ISIL, the Afghan branch of ISIS, later said a suicide bomber caused the attack. They said Chinese people were targets because of alleged crimes against Uyghur Muslims in China. Videos on social media showed smoke and debris outside the restaurant. An Italian NGO said 20 people were taken to their hospital, and seven were already dead. Attacks in Kabul have become rarer since the Taliban took power in 2021, but ISIL still carries out occasional attacks. The investigation is ongoing.

Pray for the perpetrators behind this bomb blast in Afghanistan to be quickly brought to justice. Pray for the authorities to take immediate action to curb terrorism in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 72:4).

Pray for divine protection for all the innocent civilians in Afghanistan. Pray for an improved security system in the nation. Pray for the LORD’S comfort for the families of the deceased victims. Pray for divine healing power over all the injured victims (The Holy Bible, Psalm 17:8).
