Conflicting reports have emerged about an alleged mass kidnapping of worshippers from churches in Kaduna state, northern Nigeria. Some church leaders and community members said heavily armed bandits attacked several churches during Sunday services in the Kajuru area and abducted more than 160 people, though some reportedly escaped. They said the attackers targeted rural Christian communities and caused fear among residents. However, Kaduna state police and local government officials denied that any kidnapping took place. Police described the reports as false information meant to cause panic, saying security forces visited the area and found no evidence of an attack. Religious leaders were also said to have checked the community and confirmed this claim. Nigeria has faced many kidnappings in recent years, affecting both Christians and Muslims, mostly carried out by criminal gangs seeking ransom. The country is also dealing with militant violence, farmer-herder clashes, and weak security systems. These challenges have increased public fear and confusion, especially when reports from communities and authorities sharply disagree.
Pray for the truth behind this allegation in Nigeria to be revealed quickly. Pray for wise counsel for the authorities to tackle the militants and kidnapping rings that are affecting the innocent civilians in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 3:7).
Pray for divine protection upon all the civilians, especially Christians, in Nigeria from kidnappings and violence. Pray for the LORD’S peace to prevail in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 17:8).
