Human rights organizations are deeply concerned about the forced return of Vietnamese activist Y Quynh Bdap from Thailand to Vietnam on November 28, 2025. Bdap is a peaceful Christian activist from the Montagnard Indigenous community in Vietnam’s Central Highlands. He has worked to document human rights abuses against his people and to promote religious freedom. Because of his activism, he faced persecution in Vietnam and fled to Thailand, where he was recognized as a refugee by the UN. Returning him to Vietnam puts him at serious risk of arbitrary detention, torture, enforced disappearance, and other human rights violations. Since his return, there has been no information about his location, health, or legal status. His family, lawyers, and the international community remain without answers. Experts say this is an example of transnational repression, where governments target dissidents abroad.
Pray for the international authorities to urge the governments of Thailand and Vietnam to reveal the whereabouts of the human rights activist Y Quynh Bdap. Pray for the global leaders to take strict action against transnational repressions (The Holy Bible, Micah 6:8).
Pray against human rights violations in Vietnam. Pray for the Vietnamese government to uphold international human rights law and end rights abuses in the nation. Pray for more religious freedom in the country (The Holy Bible, Job 36:6).
Pray for the immediate and unconditional release of all the imprisoned rights activists, including Y Quynh Bdap in Vietnam. Pray for them to have access to their families, lawyers, and all their basic needs and rights. (The Holy Bible, Psalm 40:17).
