In Laos, Christians face serious persecution under the country’s Communist government and strong local traditions. The government officially recognizes only three churches: the Lao Evangelical Church, the Catholic Church, and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Other Christian groups must meet secretly. Many churches do not have permanent buildings, and baptisms are often not allowed in public, especially in rural areas. Because Christianity is sometimes seen as a Western religion, authorities may watch believers closely. In villages, traditional beliefs mixed with Buddhism can lead to pressure from family and community. Some Christians are blamed for upsetting local spirits, and they may lose their homes, crops, or even be forced to leave their village. It can also be difficult for Christian families to bury their loved ones in local cemeteries. Converts and church leaders are often at risk, especially in rural areas where control is stricter.

Pray for freedom of religion in Laos. Pray for the government to abide by international human rights laws and uphold the rights and freedoms of all civilians. Pray for the LORD to soften the hearts of the communist leaders in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 146:7).

Pray for divine protection upon all believers, especially those who meet in house Churches, in Laos. Pray for freedom of Worship and religious freedom in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 14:6).

Lord Holy Spirit, let the powerful testimonial life of the little group of believers living among the unreached in Laos touch the lives of their neighbors and colleagues. Let there be a spiritual transformation among the non-believers (The Holy Bible, Genesis 39:3).
