Since 2024, China has repatriated more than 400 North Koreans who may be ill-treated in their native country. They are threatened with torture, forced labor, and even death upon return. Among those repatriated are women stuck in forced marriages and workers who demanded unpaid wages. Certain women who come back are compelled to undergo abortions since their children are not welcomed by North Korea’s regime. In defiance of warnings issued by the United Nations and human rights organizations, China persists in this practice, labeling such individuals as “illegal migrants.” Human rights organizations claim China ought to cease sending back such refugees and instead allow them to remain safely, assist them in finding new homes, or enable them to go to other nations. They also call for the world to assist agencies that defend North Korean defectors, particularly women and children in danger.
Pray for divine protection and provision for all the North Korean refugees, especially women and children, in their host countries. Pray for all the host countries, including China, to uphold the rights and freedoms of the North Korean refugees in their nations (The Holy Bible, Psalm 140:1).
Pray for the end of the oppressive regime in North Korea. Pray for the innocent civilians in the country to exercise their rights and freedoms in their homeland, for nothing is impossible for the LORD (The Holy Bible, Matthew 19:26).
