Tensions between the Syrian government and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are rising despite a recent ceasefire. The conflict escalated over ISIL prisoners who escaped from al-Shaddadi prison, with each side blaming the other. Syria’s government says the SDF released prisoners to pressure Damascus, while the SDF says the army caused the escape during attacks. The ceasefire included the SDF withdrawing from Raqqa and Deir Az Zor and handing control of prisons to the government, but talks have failed. Syrian forces have begun shelling areas around the prisons, and the army says it is ready to manage ISIL facilities. The SDF controls more than a dozen prisons in the northeast, holding about 9,000 ISIL members. The government offered SDF leader Mazloum Abdi positions in exchange for cooperation, but he requested more time, which was denied. Both sides are using threats and violence, which will lead to further conflict.

Pray for unity and oneness among the leaders of Syria and for peaceful dialogue to end the violent attacks in the nation. Pray for them to prioritize the well-being of the people and the country (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 21:15).

Pray against all the moves of the warring parties that undermine the peace and stability in Syria. Pray for divine protection upon all innocent civilians in the country (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 11:14).
