The Ministry of Health of Bhutan, in collaboration with the JICA Bhutan Office, organized a one-day Mother and Child Health (MCH) Fair on February 13, 2026, at the Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck Mother and Child Hospital under the theme “For Positive Pregnancy Experiences and Outcomes.” The event promoted awareness on maternal and neonatal health, bringing together mothers, families, health professionals, and volunteers. The fair highlighted the importance of regular Antenatal Care (ANC) and Postnatal Care (PNC) visits to prevent complications. While Bhutan has made progress in reducing maternal and infant mortality, challenges such as geographic barriers, limited awareness, and low male involvement remain. Students from the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan and JICA volunteers from the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital supported the fair through interactive educational booths.
Abba Father, we pray for all expectant and new mothers. Grant them strength, protection, and peace throughout pregnancy and childbirth. May they experience safe deliveries and healthy recoveries. Amen (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 31:25).
Lord, bless the doctors, nurses, students, and volunteers serving mothers and children. Give them compassion, skill, and dedication as they work to save lives and improve communities. Amen The Holy Bible, Proverbs 16:3).
