Recent events in northeast Syria show deep divisions between Arab and Kurdish communities. When the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced their withdrawal from Arab-majority cities like Raqqa and Deir Az Zor, many residents celebrated the return of Syrian government control. Some Arabs said they felt relieved after years of fear, repression, and forced conscription under the SDF. However, in Kurdish-majority areas such as Qamishli and Kobane, the reaction was very different. Many Kurds fear government forces due to past violence, massacres, and discrimination against minorities. Although agreements were made to integrate SDF fighters into the Syrian army, clashes and military pressure forced the SDF to accept less favorable terms. Thousands of Kurdish families have been displaced, facing shortages of water, electricity, food, and heating during extreme cold. While the Syrian government says it seeks a political solution and promises to protect Kurdish rights, many residents remain anxious and distrustful. The situation remains tense, with serious humanitarian concerns.

Pray for the LORD’s intervention in Syria, northeast Syria, to end the violent attacks and the inter-communal conflicts. Pray for the divine protection upon all the civilians living in the region from violence and evil-doers (The Holy Bible, Psalm 46:9).

Pray for the wise counsel of the Syrian authorities to prevent further attacks and to restore peace and stability in the nation, especially in the northeast region. Pray that the Love of God will supernaturally fill the hearts and minds of the people in the region, bringing an end to the ethnic and political tensions. Pray for the people of GOD in the region to be salt and light for the non-believers during this time of uncertainty (The Holy Bible, Matthew 5:13-16).
