The Syrian army has told civilians to leave parts of rural Aleppo after accusing the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) of building up troops in the area. This comes after more than a week of deadly clashes in Aleppo city that have killed at least 23 people. The army declared areas such as Deir Hafer and Maskana military zones and opened a short humanitarian window for residents to escape. Heavy military reinforcements have been sent in, raising fears of a new front in the conflict. Fighting follows the collapse of talks on an agreement that was meant to bring the SDF into state institutions. A ceasefire earlier this month allowed some SDF fighters to leave Aleppo, but tensions remain high. The government and the SDF accuse each other of attacks, including drone strikes and damage to infrastructure. Civilians say they are exhausted, frightened, and have nowhere safe to go.
Pray for the end of the security crisis in Syria, especially in Aleppo. Pray for the warring parties to find a peaceful solution to end the conflict between them. (The Holy Bible, Psalm 46:9).
Pray for divine peace and protection over all the people in Aleppo, Syria. Pray for Syria’s resilience and courage amidst the uncertainty. Pray for divine protection and provision for all the people in Yemen (The Holy Bible, Zechariah 9:12).
