In western Syria, several Alawite women say they were kidnapped after the fall of Bashar al-Assad in December 2024. Ramia, a teenager from Latakia province, said armed men forced her into a car, beat her, and insulted her faith. She said she was held for two days and threatened. Other women told similar stories of being taken from their villages, locked in rooms, and sexually assaulted. Nearly all the reported victims are from the Alawite sect, a small religious group in Syria. The Syrian Feminist Lobby says more than 80 women have been reported missing, and at least 26 cases were confirmed as kidnappings. Some families say police did not seriously investigate their reports. Syria’s interior ministry said most cases were false or not real kidnappings. However, human rights groups warn there is fear, silence, and a lack of justice for victims. Many families remain afraid to speak openly.

Pray for the new Syrian government to take immediate action to hold the perpetrators behind the brutal violence against women in western Syria accountable for the crimes. Pray for justice and peace to be served for the victims (The Holy Bible, Exodus 23:2).

Pray for political stability in Syria. Pray for the new government to uphold the rights and freedoms of all the citizens without any discrimination. Pray for divine protection upon all the religious and cultural minorities in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 40:17).

Pray for the safe return of the missing women in western Syria. Pray for the LORD to heal the victims, both physically and psychologically, and bless them with hope and a bright future (The Holy Bible, Psalm 17:8).
