Women in Afghanistan are facing very hard and dangerous conditions. Since the Taliban took power again in 2021, women’s rights have been taken away step by step. Girls are not allowed to attend most schools, and women are banned from many jobs and public places. Many are forced to stay at home and depend completely on men for their needs. Recently, the country also faced an internet shutdown that made life even harder. The loss of internet access stopped online education, job applications, and contact with the outside world. Many Afghan women now have no way to study, work, or speak freely. Reports warn that this treatment is like gender apartheid, where one group is treated as less human. The growing abuse and strict limits on women’s freedom are seen as a serious warning that violence and discrimination against them could increase even more in the future.
Papa GOD, we plead Your divine Presence and Strength for all the women and girls in Afghanistan. Be with them, Father, and help them to stand firm during this time of loneliness and uncertainty. Cover all these vulnerable souls under Your Mighty Wings from all evil (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 43:2-3).
Pray for the transformation of the mind and heart of the Taliban’s supreme leader and others in positions of influence within the Taliban to uphold the rights and freedom of women and girls in Afghanistan (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 21:1).
