A three-year-old girl from Chek village in Kampong Speu province, Cambodia, has tested positive for the H5N1 bird flu virus, bringing the total cases this year to 16, with five deaths, the Ministry of Health said.
She developed fever, diarrhoea, cough, and stomach pain and is being treated by doctors. Investigations revealed that chickens and ducks near her home had died a week before she got sick.
Health officials are working to trace the infection source, monitor contacts, and distribute Tamiflu to prevent further spread. Authorities continue to stress the importance of vigilance and hygiene to avoid a wider outbreak.
Abba Father, we lift up this little girl and all who are suffering from H5N1. Bring Your healing power upon them and restore their health completely. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 147:3).
Lord, protect families and communities from this virus. May Your hand of mercy stop the spread and grant wisdom to health workers fighting this battle. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 91:6).
